Who could not fall in love with the tropical breezes, warm sunny days and nights and the aloha spirit that envelopes these specks of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A favorite destination for Betsey and me and we whisk away at every opportunity.

Always looking for a good excuse to get away to Hawaii and we used our 15th Anniversary! A nice relaxing time with a visit to Haleakala.

When the dark winter months invade our coast, we head about 2400 miles to the sun and light at the northern tip of Polynesia. And if it is February, it is whale season and we are looking forward to a whale watch trip on board Safari Boat Excursions. By far the best boat in those waters and the best Captain. He gets you to the action and this year we were treated to a pod of males (8-11) seeking out a female for fun and frolicking. It was wild and it was awesome.

One of our favorite things to do on Maui is to drive the north coast. It gets you away from the resort crowds and into some beautiful scenery as you meander along twisting turning almost one lane roads. At the northern tip is a small community in the Kahakuloa Valley that holds on to ancient Hawaiian farming practices called Ahupu'a, with a Kon (land supervisor). The small community has a couple of drive up stands were you can get refreshments and local goodies and as the road climbs out of the valley (heading east) there is small art galley with local and unique crafts.
