Lembert Dome |
With the cool nights of September and the crowds of summer gone, Tuolomne Meadows reverts to a quiet splendor, especially after the lodge and store close. This is a time to revel in the approach of the winter season, and grab the last days before the road closes down. For this trip I went with YEXPLORE, on the recommendation of John Senser who led the North Dome trip earlier in the year. I was not disappointed. Besides John, I was accompanied by the owner ,John DeGrazio, and was instantly impressed with the personalized service he provided and the eco-tourism focus of his organization. They have a wide range |

Photographing another moon rise was the quest, along with an eagle's eye perch over Tuolomne Meadows and the Eastern range of light. A clear cool day was in store and all 360 degrees of the Sierra was at its peak. I started off with a stop at Olmstead Point to catch some views and then on to Tuolomne Meadows before the arranged meeting point. |

After a bit of confusion on my part about the exact location of our meeting site, I hooked up with John and John and off we went up the back end of Lembert Dome. It was as I had envisioned, very peaceful with an added bonus of being the only ones on the dome. John provided his photographic expertise and helped me notch a few more points of knowledge into my fleeting memory. The surprise of the trip was shooting a rather large erratic boulder with Mt Dana in the background. And while the shot that John came up with and is posted at YExplore is magnificent, I feel that I came close with my capture of that scene. Ok, that is enough of my rambling, on to the pictures and you be the judge... |

Hope you have enjoyed this quick trip and as always, May our paths and errands meet... |
